Therapy FAQs

  • What can I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is a chance to slow down and get a sense of one another. There’s no need to prepare or perform. I’ll invite you to share what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’ve tried before, and what you hope to gain from the process. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and understood from the start—so you can explore your experience at your own pace.

  • How long does therapy usually take?

The length of therapy depends on your goals and the kind of change you’re seeking. Some people come for short-term support around a specific challenge, while others continue longer to work through deeper emotional or relational patterns. We’ll collaborate to find a pace that feels right and revisit your goals as therapy unfolds.

  • How often do therapy sessions take place?

Most clients meet with me once per week at a consistent day and time. Weekly sessions help build trust, continuity, and momentum in the work. Depending on your needs, we may adjust to meet more or less frequently.

  • What are your therapy fees?

My standard private practice fee is $170 for a 50-minute individual session and $180 for couples therapy.

I also work in clinic-based and transitional settings where fees may vary, and I offer limited reduced-fee availability depending on circumstances. We can talk through options during a consultation to see what feels like a good fit.

  • Do you accept insurance or offer superbills?

I don’t bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill—a statement you can submit to your provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Please check with your insurance company to confirm coverage for therapy with an out-of-network provider.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed sessions are billed at the full session rate. I understand that emergencies happen, and we can discuss exceptions if needed.
